Common questions

Do I need a credit card to start?

No. The free plan requires no payment information. You only need a card when upgrading to Pro or Business.

What happens if the service is down?

The geo.js snippet is designed to fail open — if it can't reach ACKgeo, the page loads normally. Visitors are never stuck because of our infrastructure.

Can I change plans any time?

Yes. Upgrade or downgrade at any time. When downgrading, your plan changes at the end of the current billing cycle.

How accurate is the geo detection?

City-level accuracy varies by region but is typically 80–90%+ for country and state. Country-level blocking is highly reliable for the vast majority of traffic.

What is the ACKgeo badge?

Free accounts display a small "Protected by ACKgeo" badge in the corner of your site. Pro and Business plans remove it entirely.

Do you store visitor data?

Visitor IPs are used only for the geo lookup and are never stored. Only aggregated counts (country, region, city, blocked/allowed) are saved for your dashboard.

What is the redirect interstitial?

When a visitor is blocked, they pass through a brief ACKgeo-hosted page before reaching your redirect URL. This is platform-controlled on free plans. Pro and Business plans redirect cleanly to your URL.

Can I use ACKgeo on multiple domains?

Free accounts support 1 site. Pro and Business accounts support unlimited sites, each with independent rules and analytics.
